Duties and Responsibilities 
 
Payroll Functions :
  • Process and manage end-to-end payroll for 150+ employees in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Act as first escalation point on all payroll-related issues, including complex calculation, workers compensation, salary, taxation and benefits administration queries.
  • Assists with processing of PAYG, Payroll tax, Superannuation, LSL, Child Support, STP and FBT legislation, ensuring timely lodgement and payments.
  • Assists Finance Manager with client-specific rate cards and rule groups.
  • Processing of New Starter & Finisher across the business and ensuring all new starters and finishers are compliance within the business.
  • Monitoring and managing Incoming & Outgoing payroll e-mails.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee and payroll data within the business
  • Assists Finance Manager with the Interpretation and application of employment conditions, industrial awards, and agreements.
  • Undertake internal payroll checks and assists with external audit requirements as needed
  • Take the initiative in or contribute to Identifying and implement process improvements and support systems integration
  • Develop strong internal and external accounts/payroll relationships with key stakeholders.
 
Accounts Functions :
  • Process and manage end-to-end Accounts Payable/Receivable duties including but not limited to entering & reconciling Invoices, setting up weekly batch payment runs & raising invoices to clients in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Processing and management of vendor master data integrity, including creation of new suppliers and customers and verification of bank details.
  • Proactive approach in managing & recovering outstanding balances.
  • Reconciling bank reconciliations, credit card statement and resolving discrepancies.
  • Act as first escalation point on all accounts payable & receivable-related queries.
  • Develop strong internal and external accounts/payroll relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Monitoring and managing Incoming & Outgoing Accounts e-mails.
  • Take the initiative in or contribute to Identifying and implement process improvements and support systems integration.
  • Processing and Management of stocktake movement within the business.
 
Key Selection Criteria :
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience in a combined Payroll and Accounts role
  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting
  • Strong understanding of Australian Payroll legislation & awards
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills - liasing with both contractors and clients
  • Ability to work independently and within a collaborative finance team
  • Strong Organisation skills - ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
  • Intermediate Excel skills with confidence using formulas and reconciliation
  • Experience in Job Adder - Desirable
  • Experience in Recruitment/Labourhire/Mining/Construction Industry - Desirable
  • Experience in Astute & XERO - Highly regarded
