We are seeking a seasoned and hands-on Construction Manager to lead Fortescue’s owner’s team on site and drive the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of a major infrastructure project. This role demands strong leadership, daily contractor oversight, and seamless coordination across civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical disciplines—all while upholding Fortescue’s values and sustainability commitments.
  
Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and management of on-site construction activities
  • Supervise and coordinate owner’s team to ensure effective contractor performance
  • Champion a safety-first culture by enforcing WHS standards and procedures
  • Manage daily contractor activities to ensure delivery aligns with scope, schedule, and budget
  • Oversee progress across multiple construction packages including civil, electrical, mechanical, and balance-of-plant works
  • Monitor quality assurance and ensure compliance with specifications and regulatory standards
  • Identify risks, implement mitigation strategies, and escalate issues as required
  • Report regularly to the Project Director/Construction Director on progress, risks, and contractor performance
  • Foster collaborative relationships with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders
  • Support commissioning and handover activities for a smooth transition to operations
  
Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience as a Construction Manager or similar senior leadership role on large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Experience in solar farm construction highly regarded; alternatively, strong multidisciplinary exposure across civil, electrical, and mechanical works is essential
  • Demonstrated success managing contractors in complex, remote, or FIFO project environments
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on safety, quality, and performance
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and conflict resolution abilities
  • Commercial acumen with the ability to manage budgets, schedules, and resources effectively
  • Previous experience on projects will be considered a significant advantage
