Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage commissioning timelines in alignment with construction progress.
- Work closely with engineering, construction, and HSE teams to ensure systems are prepared and safely executed.
- Evaluate electrical schematics, technical specifications, and commissioning protocols for completeness and accuracy.
- Supervise and support commissioning personnel, including electricians and subcontractors.
- Delegate responsibilities, track performance, and uphold quality benchmarks.
- Foster a workplace culture focused on safety, responsibility, and ongoing improvement.
- Offer expert advice and troubleshoot commissioning challenges.
- Manage verification of installations, pre-start checks, and operational testing of HV/LV systems, switchgear, transformers, MCCs, and control panels.
- Observe and confirm test outcomes to ensure alignment with design and regulatory standards.
- Diagnose and fix faults to guarantee system safety and functionality.
- Ensure all commissioning tasks adhere to HSE guidelines, electrical safety codes, and permit-to-work protocols.
- Lead safety briefings and enforce safe work behaviors.
- Keep detailed records of safety inspections, incidents, and corrective measures.
- Compile commissioning documentation, including test results and handover reports.
- Track system status and commissioning milestones.
- Communicate risks, delays, and technical concerns to project stakeholders.
- Confirm installations meet design specifications and comply with Australian standards (e.g., AS/NZS 3000).
- Identify and address defects before final handover.
- Participate in post-project reviews and contribute to process improvements.
- In-depth understanding of electrical systems, protection mechanisms, and commissioning procedures in mining or heavy industrial settings.
- Skilled in reading and interpreting electrical diagrams and technical documentation.
- Demonstrated leadership and coordination abilities in FIFO environments.
- Strong communication skills and experience engaging with diverse stakeholders.
- Effective problem-solving under pressure.
- Dedicated to maintaining safety, compliance, and quality standards.
- Knowledgeable about mining infrastructure and operations.
