Deliver detailed design and specification of electrical equipment commonly used in water infrastructure projects.

Key Accountabilities
  • Develop project deliverables in line with project scope, specifications, and applicable standards. This includes (but is not limited to) general arrangements (GAs), single line diagrams (SLDs), termination diagrams, cable schedules, scopes of work, materials lists, equipment specifications, and datasheets.
  • Perform electrical engineering activities such as electrical calculations, cable sizing, equipment selection, and procurement support.
  • Provide technical advice, recommendations, and interface support to the Project Manager and internal stakeholders to ensure project and business requirements are met.
  • Liaise with external vendors—including manufacturers, contractors, and consultants—to obtain quotations and coordinate equipment supply. Assess proposals and present findings to internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in factory acceptance testing (FAT) to verify technical compliance and quality assurance.
  • Conduct occasional short-term site visits (Pilbara region and Perth metro) for equipment inspection and testing.
  • Communicate design progress, changes, risks, and issues clearly and in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure effective coordination, support, and transfer of information.
 
Qualifications and Skills Required
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant Australian and international standards, supported by experience in safety‑in‑design activities such as HAZOP, HAZID, and formal risk assessments.
  • Proven experience in the design of electrical infrastructure for pump stations, borefields, and transfer pump station systems, including pump motors, VSDs, and MCCs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, accredited or recognised by Engineers Australia.
  • 3–5 years of experience in an engineering design role.
  • Solid understanding of the development of Operating and Control Philosophies and Functional Descriptions.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
