DRD Group are looking for a proactive and technically skilled Electrical Project Engineer to lead the delivery of electrical works for a major infrastructure project. This role spans the full lifecycle—from design through to execution and commissioning—and requires strong experience in brownfields iron ore environments, a collaborative approach to contractor management, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage major electrical procurement packages from specification through to site handover
- Ensure all equipment and materials meet technical specifications, site standards, and regulatory requirements
- Track procurement schedules and ensure alignment with overall project timelines and budget
- Review and approve technical documentation, working closely with engineering and site teams to ensure constructability and maintainability
- Resolve technical queries and deviations with vendors and contractors
- Provide technical support to the construction team during execution and commissioning phases
- Lead contractor engagement to ensure performance meets contractual, safety, and quality expectations
- Monitor progress, manage risks, and implement mitigation strategies to avoid delays or cost overruns
- Foster collaboration between internal stakeholders, suppliers, and contractors to meet delivery milestones
- Maintain accurate project documentation for compliance and audit purposes
- Provide regular updates to the Project Manager and contribute to project reporting and risk management
- Site travel will be required in line with project phases. Minimal travel is expected during the design phase, with increased travel during execution, shutdowns, major installations, and commissioning.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5–8 years’ experience in project engineering roles across major infrastructure projects
- Proven experience managing procurement packages from design through to delivery
- Strong understanding of electrical installation requirements and site construction standards
- Demonstrated ability to work proactively and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams
- Experience in brownfields iron ore projects, particularly in the Pilbara region
- Familiarity with commissioning, shutdowns, and energisation processes
