We are currently seeking an experienced Civil Float Operator for a FIFO 13:15 roster.

This role involves transporting heavy earthmoving and rail equipment safely and efficiently across the Pilbara region using 50t low loaders and extendable trailers.

You’ll be working across private dirt access roads and WA Main Roads, supporting civil and track maintenance operations for one of WA’s largest mining networks. Accommodation and meals are provided at site camps.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate prime movers with low loader or float trailers to transport machinery and rail components.
  • Conduct pre-start inspections and routine maintenance checks on truck and trailer units.
  • Safely load, secure, and unload equipment using correct load restraint techniques in compliance with WAHVA regulations.
  • Complete all transport documentation accurately, including trip sheets and logbooks.
  • Liaise with site personnel to coordinate pick-ups and deliveries.
  • Adhere to all road, traffic, fatigue management, and heavy haulage regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of float truck and associated equipment.
What We’re Looking For
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience operating prime movers with low loader or float trailers.
  • Proven experience driving road ranger prime movers in varied terrains.
  • Knowledge of load restraint laws, Chain of Responsibility (CoR), and WA Heavy Vehicle Accreditation (WAHVA).
  • Familiarity with fatigue management legislation and compliance.
  • Sound mechanical knowledge and ability to perform basic maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing site demands.
  • Strong communication skills and commitment to safety.
Licenses & Certifications
  • MC Driver’s License (essential)
  • Forklift & Dogging High-Risk License (desirable)
  • MRWA Fatigue Certificate
  • Ability to obtain Safeworking Level 2 and CAT 2 Rail Medical.
