We are seeking an experienced  Laboratory Technician  to join our Clients R&D team working on renewables projects.

Owners Team level, 6-month contract, Balcatta based at Clients office. Monday to Friday 38 hours per week.

Your responsibilities

  • Participate in creating a safe working environment, support risk assessments and development of SWI/SOP
  • Monitor and conduct experimental tests, analyses, and measurements within R&D laboratory facilities to evaluate green iron technologies using custom equipment (electrochemical testing stations and rigs).
  • Follow experimental operating procedures and safety protocols.
  • Provide support to scientists, engineers, and fabrications team members working in laboratory.
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis and characterisation of samples, raw materials, reagents, and products by using a range of laboratory-based techniques (XRD, XRD, SEM, ICP, IC, Titration) under the guidance of experienced team members.
  • Clean and maintain laboratory instruments and assist in managing laboratory supplies including stocks of materials, chemicals, consumables, and waste disposal.
  • Collect and record data, document all activities, and facilitate progress tracking through use of laboratory data management software.
  • Analyse and interpret experimental data to draw key trends and findings, and disseminate those experimental findings to the wider team
  • Support the team to engage with vendors for the sourcing of material

Your Experience

  • A background in industrial chemistry, mineral processing, electrochemistry, or materials science is preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant scientific field (e.g. materials science, applied chemistry, inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, physics, or similar) with research experience desirable
  • Experience in analytical methods and characterisation techniques highly desirable
  • Experience in industrial production laboratories handling hazardous materials desirable
  • Ability to prioritise, organise and manage multiple tasks, to be flexible and adaptable to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills,
  • Exhibits enthusiasm with a friendly “can do” attitude
  • Self-motivated and ability to work on own initiative
  • Highly effective team player
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills and other analytical equipment software desired
  • Strong focus on safety and maintaining a clean working environment a must
