Are you a Level 2 Engineer who truly understands what's happening "under the hood"? We are seeking a technically grounded Service Desk Engineer for a prominent Perth-based MSP. This role is designed for a professional who masters the bridge between virtual environments and physical hardware; someone who understands the mechanics of a server room as deeply as the logic of the OSI model.
The Role
Based in Perth, you will provide high-level support for a diverse client portfolio. You will be the "go-to" for complex escalations where deep-dive diagnostics are required. You won't just be managing software; you will be responsible for the health, configuration, and troubleshooting of the physical backbone of our clients' businesses.
Key Responsibilities
- Hardware Mastery: Lead the installation, diagnostic, and repair of physical Servers, Workstations, and NAS (Network Attached Storage) units.
- Core Infrastructure: Manage the full lifecycle of hardware, from unboxing and "bare-metal" builds to RAID configuration and rack deployment.
- Network Logic: Apply a comprehensive understanding of the OSI Model to troubleshoot connectivity issues across IP Networks, including switching, routing, and VLAN tagging.
- Systems Administration: Manage and optimise Microsoft 365, Active Directory/Azure AD, and Virtualisation layers (Hyper-V/VMware).
- Escalation Excellence: Serve as the Tier 2 circuit breaker for complex tickets, ensuring "first-time-fix" results for high-priority clients.
- Hardware Expertise: Deep familiarity with server internals (CPU, RAM, RAID Controllers) and NAS architecture (Synology, QNAP, or Enterprise storage).
- Networking: Proven ability to troubleshoot IP Networking using the OSI framework (Layers 1-4).
- MSP Pedigree: Minimum 2+ years of experience in a fast-paced Managed Services environment.
- Certifications: CompTIA A+ and Network+ are highly regarded as evidence of your hardware and networking foundation.
- Systems: Strong proficiency in Windows Server environments and cloud-hybrid setups.
- You have a "builder" mindset; you understand how a computer operates from the hardware up.
- You are a logical troubleshooter who uses the OSI model to isolate faults systematically.
- You are a strong communicator who can translate "technical hardware talk" into "business solutions" for clients.
