DRD Group are looking for talented and motivated Mechanical Engineers from Lead, Senior and Intermediate
levels to join our client's high-performance engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to multi-billion-dollar, multi-year studies and projects across multiple assets, supporting all phases from scoping through to execution. You’ll work under the guidance of a project lead and report to the Manager Engineering, delivering mechanical discipline responsibilities across a diverse portfolio.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Ensure mechanical designs comply with relevant codes, regulations, standards, and industry best practices
- Develop mechanical engineering deliverables including calculations, equipment selection, datasheets, piping lists, lubrication schedules, tie-in schedules, and bills of materials
- Support design teams and review 3D models, plot plans, layout drawings, general arrangements, fabrication and construction drawings
- Manage equipment packages from specification through to inspection and factory acceptance testing
- Resolve technical queries and liaise with vendors and contractors to ensure compliance and constructability
- Participate in project reviews including design, functional safety, risk, cost, and schedule assessments
- Deliver mechanical scope within budget and schedule, collaborating with other disciplines for scope development and squad checks
- Provide general project support under the direction of the project lead
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience in mining or heavy industry projects
- Strong background in concept design, FEED, and detailed design; construction and commissioning experience is a plus
- Expertise in dry and wet process plants, slurry pumping, piping systems, and materials handling
- Ability to size and specify equipment such as conveyors, feeders, bins, pumps, and piping
- FEA and solids modelling skills are advantageous; DEM experience in chute and conveyor design highly regarded
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills in multidisciplinary environments
- Adaptable, proactive, and committed to delivering high-quality outcomes
