The Data & AI Platform team enables engineering teams to build, deploy, and operate data and AI solutions across cloud, operational technology (OT), and edge environments. The team develops reusable platform capabilities, automation, standards, and self-service tools that help engineers deliver software safely, reliably, and efficiently.
This role is suited to someone who enjoys building internal platforms, improving developer experience, automating infrastructure, and working across engineering, security, networking, and operations teams.
About the Role
As a Platform Engineer, you will contribute to the design, delivery, and operation of platform services that improve software delivery, reliability, security, and scalability. You will help create reusable tools, infrastructure modules, CI/CD capabilities, automation workflows, and operational practices that reduce friction for development teams.
This is a hands-on engineering role with ownership of platform components from implementation and testing through to deployment, operation, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Engineering
- Build and maintain platform capabilities that improve developer productivity and software delivery.
- Develop reusable infrastructure modules, templates, standards, and engineering patterns.
- Contribute to platform architectures that support cloud, OT, and edge workloads.
- Improve platform usability through automation and developer feedback.
- Ensure security, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency are considered in all platform solutions.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and related tooling.
- Implement infrastructure automation using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices.
- Support software release processes, deployment automation, rollback capabilities, and change management.
- Develop reusable workflows, scripts, templates, and automation components.
- Enable self-service delivery capabilities for engineering teams.
- Deploy, operate, and troubleshoot workloads running on Kubernetes or OpenShift platforms.
- Improve operational reliability, scalability, resilience, and platform performance.
- Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting, logging, and observability solutions.
- Develop operational documentation, runbooks, and support procedures.
- Contribute to incident management and continuous improvement activities.
- Deliver reusable platform services, APIs, templates, documentation, and tooling.
- Support engineering teams adopting platform capabilities.
- Identify bottlenecks and opportunities to improve engineering workflows.
- Promote platform best practices and knowledge sharing across teams.
- Work closely with Infrastructure, Security, Networking, and Engineering teams.
- Participate in technical design reviews, code reviews, and operational reviews.
- Balance engineering best practices with pragmatic delivery outcomes.
- Experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, Cloud Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or Software Engineering.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, or managed Kubernetes services.
- Strong AWS experience and understanding of cloud-native services.
- Infrastructure as Code experience, ideally with Terraform.
- CI/CD experience using GitHub Actions or similar platforms.
- Solid Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience building automation, APIs, scripts, and developer tooling using Python, TypeScript, Bash, Go, or similar languages.
- Experience integrating services and platforms across multiple teams.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across application, infrastructure, networking, and cloud environments.
- Understanding of security, observability, operational readiness, and reliability engineering concepts.
- Internal Developer Platforms (IDP), developer portals, service catalogues, or platform tooling.
- Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry, or other observability technologies.
- OT, edge computing, or network-segregated environments.
- AI/ML platforms, data-intensive applications, or specialised compute environments.
- FinOps, cloud cost optimisation, policy-as-code, or platform governance.
- Application security and secure software delivery practices.
A hands-on platform, DevOps, or cloud engineer who enjoys automation, infrastructure, developer enablement, and solving complex technical challenges. You'll be comfortable working across cloud, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Linux, observability, and automation technologies while collaborating with engineering teams to improve software delivery and operational excellence.
