This role offers the opportunity to apply strong technical capability, curiosity and a drive for continuous improvement in a position that directly influences OPF performance outcomes. 

The position sits at the core of operational performance, with responsibility for plant performance insights, metallurgical analysis and process optimisation.

Working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Laboratory, Quality and Planning teams, the role plays a critical part in ensuring the OPF operates safely, efficiently and at peak performance.

From daily reporting and troubleshooting to testwork, sampling integrity and continuous improvement initiatives, the Process Engineer will contribute directly to quality, throughput and reliability outcomes across the OPF.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor OPF performance and partner with Operations to deliver optimum plant quality and throughput.
  • Prepare daily, weekly and end-of-month production and metallurgical reports that support informed decision-making.
  • Conduct plant investigations, identify bottlenecks and recommend practical improvement actions.
  • Support sampling, metallurgical testwork and laboratory activities, ensuring accuracy, integrity and safe work practices.
  • Contribute to shutdown planning, trial work and unit-operation optimisation initiatives.
  • Work cross-functionally to improve plant availability, material selection and overall process efficiency, with a focus on critical areas such as Desands.
  • Liaise with the Quality team on feed blend strategies from ROM to maximise product quality and throughput.
  • Assist in the management of OPF radiation gauges in line with Radiation Safety Act requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in mineral processing, within operational or technical roles.
  • Strong understanding of iron ore processing, including dry and wet circuits, beneficiation principles and metallurgical testing.
  • High-level communication, technical writing and data analysis capability.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Strong computer literacy, particularly in MS Excel; exposure to SAP or delay accounting systems is advantageous.
  • A proactive mindset focused on learning, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Tertiary qualification in Chemical, Process or Metallurgical Engineering.
