We’re currently partnering with a leading mining operator to source an experienced Project Estimator for their Technical Services Studies Team. This is a fantastic 12-month contract opportunity to contribute to high-impact project studies, working alongside engineers, planners, and subject matter experts to take projects from concept through to feasibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop accurate cost estimates across study phases (scoping, prefeasibility, feasibility) for mining and infrastructure projects.
  • Apply comparative first-principles estimating to ensure realistic, benchmarked figures.
  • Collaborate with SMEs across engineering, operations, and supply chain to consolidate insights.
  • Prepare professional documentation including: Basis of Estimate (BOE), Estimate frameworks and templates, Work Breakdown Structures, Preambles and Commodity Code Definitions and Visual/spatial breakdowns for clarity.
  • Support the setup and refinement of the estimation software database ("Winest").
  • Review tenders and proposals with attention to risk, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Maintain a reconciled cost library to support continuous improvement.
About You
  • Degree in Engineering (or equivalent) OR strong hands-on experience in estimating.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in cost estimation within the resources sector.
  • At least 2 years’ experience working directly with a mining operator (essential).
  • Confident in first-principles estimating and SME collaboration.
  • Experience with Winest is highly regarded.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills with the ability to simplify complex estimates.
  • Collaborative team player with advanced Excel and MS Office skills.
