Reporting to the Purchasing Supervisor, the Purchasing Officer is responsible for supporting procurement activities across the Customer Group by sourcing, purchasing, and expediting goods and services required for business operations.
The role plays a key part in ensuring supply continuity, delivering commercial value, and maintaining strong supplier relationships while meeting operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the end-to-end procurement process for materials, equipment, consumables, and services in line with company policies and procurement standards.
  • Source and evaluate suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, quality outcomes, and reliable delivery performance.
  • Prepare and manage Requests for Quotation (RFQs), analyse supplier responses, and make recommendations based on commercial and operational considerations.
  • Monitor and expedite purchase orders to ensure goods and services are delivered within agreed timelines.
  • Support cost reduction and value optimisation initiatives across capital projects, maintenance programs, and operational expenditure.
  • Verify that purchased goods and services meet required specifications, quality standards, and business expectations.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing data, including pricing, supplier information, and material costing within company systems.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and deliver responsive procurement support.
  • Assist in identifying supply risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies to minimise operational disruption.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with suppliers and internal customers to ensure effective service delivery.
Skills & Experience
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a Purchasing Officer, Buyer, or Procurement role.
  • Previous exposure to mining, resources, heavy industry, manufacturing, or a similar operational environment will be highly regarded.
  • Strong understanding of procurement principles, supplier management, inventory control, and purchasing best practices.
  • Familiarity with commercial contracts, supplier terms and conditions, and procurement compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing the procurement of both goods and service-based contracts.
  • Sound knowledge of purchase-to-pay (P2P) processes, logistics coordination, and supply chain operations.
  • Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make commercially sound decisions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, work effectively under pressure, and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive and customer-focused approach.
