The Senior Cost Controller will be responsible for implementing cost management systems and processes, building cost‑control capability within the project team, and delivering budget oversight, invoice management, and cost forecasting services — all of which support the successful execution of key sustainability and decarbonisation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement project cost management systems, processes, and procedures to ensure a consistent approach to cost control, budget tracking, forecasting, cashflow management, and performance analysis.
  • Oversee project cost and progress reporting to provide accurate, timely, and consistent updates to the project management team, including identifying required actions to maintain approved budget baselines and analysing cost variances.
  • Apply the standard Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) to ensure alignment across systems, processes, and reporting.
  • Manage Value of Work Done (VOWD), performance measurement, commitment phasing, resource forecasting, change management, and the development of Estimate to Complete (ETC) and Estimate at Completion (EAC) forecasts.
  • Support contracting and procurement teams with contract reviews, purchase requisitions/orders, and payment certificate assessments.
  • Validate contractor claims, reported progress (QMR), and submitted invoices.
  • Review and verify invoices, prepare accruals with supporting documentation before month‑end, and ensure expenses are allocated correctly to appropriate cost centres and WBS elements.
  • Ensure diligent use of the project change management process (PCN) throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage project resource forecasting, time‑writing administration, and invoicing where required.
  • Monitor and audit the cost management system and SAP to ensure data accuracy between platforms, escalating significant variances to management.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Commerce/ Finance
  • Project management or an internationally accredited project controls certification
  • Prior experience in a similar role preferably in the resources and renewable energy sector and complex construction and engineering environments through all phases of project development and execution
  • At least 8 years project control experience, preferably including international elements or interfaces on Major Projects
  • Demonstrated experience establishing, managing and reporting the cost components of mid to largescale capital projects, including managing a progress reporting methodology
  • Sound understanding of project control principle, processes and techniques including methods for transitioning from estimate to project budget, project cost and cash flow forecasting and analysis.
  • Analytical/technical skills with a practical approach to problem solving.
  • Demonstrated understanding of project services and project contracting/procurement disciplines and their relationships to cost engineering activities.
  • Highly effective communication skills and ability to develop and provide management reports at all levels, including presentations to management.
  • High level of computer skill with advanced Microsoft Excel, Word and MS Office package abilities.
