About the Role
Join a leading global resources and green energy business as a Senior Mechanical Designer, supporting major studies and projects across mining and mineral processing assets. You will work within a high‑performing, collaborative team environment delivering complex, multi‑billion‑dollar projects across all phases from concept through to execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver mechanical design outputs in line with relevant codes, standards, and industry best practice
- Produce 2D/3D models and drawings from engineering inputs and design data
- Develop plant layouts based on project requirements and design inputs
- Review vendor drawings, models, and technical documentation
- Lead and manage design and drafting resources to meet project schedules and budgets
- Track design progress and maintain deliverable timelines
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders across the business
- Present design models and technical outputs to stakeholders
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and project evaluations
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering Design Drafting or similar
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in mechanical design/drafting, ideally within mining or mineral processing
- Strong experience in plant layout design and materials handling systems
- Proficiency in Bentley 2D and 3D design software
- Experience supervising or leading drafting teams
- Solid understanding of fabrication and construction methodologies
- Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary project environments
Preferred
- Experience across full project lifecycle (studies through to execution)
- Exposure to large‑scale mining or infrastructure projects
- Demonstrated ability to lead design scopes under project direction
