We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our clients team working on several projects within the mining industry.

Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible to:
• Ensure the mechanical design complies with the relevant regulations and codes, Fortescue’s Values, standards, procedures, processes and specifications, and industry best practice.
• Develop mechanical calculations, equipment selection, datasheets, equipment list, piping list, utility consumption list, lubrication schedule, tie-ins schedule, capital spare schedule, bills of materials, and all mechanical engineering deliverables.
• Support designers and review 3D model, plot plan, layout drawings, general arrangements, plan and profile, design drawings, liner drawings, fabrication drawings, and construction drawings.
• Manage equipment packages including equipment specifications, requisition packages, technical clarifications, bid tabulation / evaluation / recommendation, review vendor data, resolve technical queries, participate in inspection and factory acceptance test.
• Constribute in project reviews, including design reviews, functional safety reviews, risk reviews, cost estimate and schedule review, and other relevant technical reviews.
• Deliver all mechanical discipline scope and deliverables within the allocated budget and schedule.
• Collaborate with the other disciplines and functions for scope development, squad checks, and provide general support to the project under the direction of the project lead.

Qualifications and Experience
What you bring:
• A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a mechanical engineer in the mining or heavy industry.
• Experience in concept design, FEED, and detail design is required. Experience in construction, commissioning, operations, or maintenance is a plus.
• Experience in Dry and Wet process plants, slurry pumping and piping systems, and materials handling systems is highly regarded.
• Ability to perform detailed calculations to specify and size material handling and minerals processing equipment such as; conveyors, feeders, bins, pumps or piping etc.
• FEA and Solids Modelling skills are a plus. Experience in overland conveyor design and chute design using DEM is highly regarded.
• Strong teamwork, people skills, and working effectively in multi-disciplines environment.
• Committed, motivated, flexible, agile, and adaptable to changing project requirements and timelines.
