Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing and implementing control systems for Mine Site Operations, Fixed Plant, Power, NPI, Water, and new development projects—ensuring safety, timeliness, and sustainability.
  • Reviewing and validating engineering designs and components.
  • Resolving technical and design challenges with practical, innovative solutions.
  • Selecting appropriate components for both custom and standard applications.
  • Managing priorities and delivering outcomes in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Adapting quickly to evolving project requirements and technologies.
  • Providing expert technical guidance on all Process Control Systems Engineering activities.
  • Developing technical specifications aligned with project objectives.
  • Interpreting engineering drawings and producing high-quality technical documentation, including Standard Specifications, Functional Descriptions, and Scope of Works.
  • Ensuring compliance with project management processes and standards.
  • Managing external control system integrators.
  • Auditing existing control system hardware/software and recommending upgrades.
  • Identifying and promoting best practices in instrumentation and process control.
  • Developing and maintaining hardware/software standards for technical solutions.
  • Providing regular progress updates, risk assessments, and priority reports to the Principal Control Systems Engineer.
  • Hands-on programming of PLC and SCADA systems.
Qualifications & Skills  
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Control Systems, or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • 7+ years of experience in Control Systems or Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
  • Experience in HME/Automotive systems (highly advantageous).
  • Exposure to power and renewable energy projects (highly advantageous).
  • Proficiency in GE/Emerson and Siemens PLC programming.
  • SCADA programming experience—Ignition SCADA is highly desirable; familiarity with Cimplicity, WinCC, and others is beneficial.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols such as MQTT, PROFINET, Profibus, Modbus, and Ethernet.
  • Familiarity with various system controllers and programming languages (Structured Text, Function Block, Ladder, C#, VB).
  • Expertise in HMI and SCADA system design and development.
  • Miri mapping and coding experience (highly advantageous).
  • Knowledge of inverters, chargers, and VSD operations.
  • Understanding of Functional Safety principles and standards.
  • Experience across control system design, development, and commissioning phases.
  • Knowledge of high-voltage DC power systems and electrical noise filtration (advantageous).
  • Excellent communication, multitasking, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to lead instrumentation and process control audits and develop actionable improvement plans.
