We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to support the planning and delivery of laboratory, prototype and pilot-scale projects within a technically complex R&D environment.

This role will suit someone who enjoys taking ownership of end‑to‑end project delivery, working across multidisciplinary teams and seeing projects through from concept to commissioning and handover.

You will play a key role in shaping project execution, managing risk, cost and schedule, and ensuring high engineering and safety standards are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead standalone projects or discrete work packages from concept through to commissioning and handover
  • Develop project charters, execution plans, scopes of work, schedules and budgets
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and operations readiness
  • Manage project risk, decision registers, actions and reporting throughout delivery
  • Chair project meetings, track actions and communicate progress to senior stakeholders
  • Engage, manage and evaluate suppliers, vendors and contractors, including contract administration
  • Oversee procurement activities to ensure quality, cost and schedule outcomes
  • Support site-based construction and commissioning activities as required
  • Ensure all works comply with Australian and relevant international standards
  • Maintain a strong commitment to HSSE and zero-harm principles
About You
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or similar)
  • 7+ years’ experience in project engineering or project management roles
  • Background delivering multidisciplinary projects, ideally within energy, infrastructure or resources sectors
  • Strong capability across detailed design, construction and commissioning phases
  • Excellent organisational, leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules and project risk
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, technically complex environments
  • Exposure to Agile methodologies (particularly Scrum) is highly regarded
