Overview:
Water Resource Engineer
to join our diverse team of technical professionals for a Tier 1 client. You will contribute to the planning, analysis, and design of water-related infrastructure across our mining operations and project developments. Your expertise will help ensure sustainable and effective water management through hydrologic studies, hydraulic modelling, flood risk evaluations, and infrastructure design.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Collaborate with engineers and scientists to deliver water resource solutions across Fortescue's sites
- Carry out hydrologic and hydraulic assessments to support project planning and environmental compliance
- Design and review water management systems such as stormwater controls, flood mitigation structures, and drainage networks
- Conduct flood risk analyses and contribute to the development of site-wide water strategies
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and assurance reviews for internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure all designs meet regulatory standards and align with Fortescue's sustainability goals
- Support projects from early concept through to detailed design and implementation
- A degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering (or a related field)
- Proven experience in water resource engineering, ideally within mining or infrastructure sectors
- Strong skills in modelling software such as HEC-RAS, TUFLOW, MIKE, or similar tools
- Knowledge of Australian water regulations and design standards
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and work effectively in cross-functional teams
- Chartered Engineer status or progress toward chartership is a plus
